Dr. Lea Berentson

Dr. Berentson is a licensed clinical psychologist.  She obtained certification in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International.  Dr. Berentson has been working in the mental health field since 2005.  She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with emphasis in Trauma from Minnesota School of Professional Psychology (Argosy University) in 2012.  She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Standing Rock Internship Program.

Dr. Berentson has been trained in a variety of evidence based treatments including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), mindfulness, person-centered, prolonged exposure (PE) and exposure response prevention (ERP).

Dr. Berentson is licensed in North Dakota and has obtained Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Psychology (APIT) from PSYPACT.  Please click the link to see if you live in a participating state

Public Speaking

Dr. Berentson is experienced and available for public speaking.  Please contact to inquire about details.  She has experience speaking at a variety of events including: the North Dakota Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology; Suicide Prevention Coalition Annual Meeting; ND Behavioral Health Conference; presentations for UND School of Medicine Resident training;  and trainings for prospective parents.

Aside from clinical work, Dr. Berentson enjoys traveling, being in nature, learning, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
